Kagoshima Using acrylic for WTT
Using acrylic for WTT
recently I have converted my normal 422 tank into a white tank to do WTT for my XB.. here would like to share some of the info, just incase anyone also interested to do the same.. here is my acrylic dimension, you can follow and it should fit nicley into your 422 (no IOS or IOUS type)total 8 pc of acrylics
Back 3mm x2pcs - 595(w) x 550(h)mm
Front 3mm x2pcs - 595(w) x 550(h)mm
Side x 3mm 2pcs - 575(w) x 550(h)mm
Base 5mm thick x 2pc - 595(l) x 580(w) mm
All dimension was measure out the tank..
for example.. the base, I measured the tank total length from outside, and then minus off the 2 side glass thickness (7mm x 2) and then give another 10mm -12mm tolerance for the silicon on the sides
for the height, I measure the total height of the tank and then minus the base glass (7mm), the gap ontop before the top bracing, my bracing glass is 10mm thick, and there is the center bracing also 10mm but mounted below the top bracing, so in total i need to minus off 20mm from here plus the gap 10mm plus the base glass (7mm).. then give another 10mm tolerance.
Here the place I go buy my arcylic - Dama Enterprise Pte Ltd (3029A Ubi Rd 3, #01-98/99, Singapore 408661, Tel 6743 6100)

Dama Enterprise Pte Ltd service very good.. there are lots of sales assistance there (the office look like bank counter) still got coffee to drink.. and the price is very reasonable... in fact it it the cheapest I even found.
here the sample of different color they have..

theses are the 2 type of white, glossy and matt.. you can order in advance with the product code given
PLF402 is matt white and PL402 is glossy white, price matt is more expensive by a few dollor, but limited to certain thickness only.. (only 3mm got matt when I was there, maybe no stock for 5mm and above)

there are the acrylic that I bought.. very heavy.. to carry home.

so after spending a few hours, my tank finally converted from this

to this

Any good tips to mount and hold the acrylic at the good positions? Thanks for sharing.
>Great effort with the text and photos. I picked up materials for my DIY Fgt cover and tank covers from Dama too.. Did you have to sand down the acrylic edges for fitting ? Do you get much dirt trapped underneath the sheets?

Thanks for sharing. ontop I drill some hole and use those rubber sucker, attached and "paste" them to the glass wall, below I use the divder holder, but away one side and then use it to hold the vertical arcylic.

I need file away the corner to make it tapered. so that it can fit nicely at the edge silicon there.
I have use arcylic as base before, so far I find that dirt trap is unavoidable, but is mini.. so on worry.. (unless yours got a big gap while dirt can throw in and cannot come out)
>Very good information you have shared.....THUMBS UP for the effort to share in such details............

TIA You can use silicon to hold these sheets in there. But removing them wont be easy unless you are converting that tank permanently into such a WTT for grooming.
